Using Prime/Connect/Flexcam Classroom for Zoom
In most classrooms, there is a camera and microphone for connecting to Zoom.
Having Zoom in your classroom means you can:
- record your lecture to the cloud and share the link
- bring in a remote guest speaker
- invite anyone to your class and have them attend remotely
Depending on your room type, you may have a Prime, Connect, or Flexcam Zoom-enabled room. You can check your room type on the Online Classroom Inventory (OCI) under "Room Type" and schedule an in-class Tech Assist to meet you in your room and help you get started. The OCI also has detailed video instructions for each Zoom-enabled room at the bottom of each page.
When you are using the Zoom-Enabled room, we recommend joining a meeting rather than starting a meeting in the room. If you start a meeting, the host of the Zoom room is the Classroom account, not your Chapman account. This may give you problems with retrieving your Zoom recordings or sharing your screen. To review on how to create a Zoom meeting in Canvas, please see this page Scheduling a Zoom Meeting in a Canvas Course (Clicking this link will take you to a different page in this Canvas site). By following these directions and joining the meeting you created, the recordings will seamlessly go straight to the Canvas course.
Below, you'll find quick start guides to help you get started with each of the Zoom-enabled rooms.
