Options for video in Canvas

Use Swank or Kanopy to assign documentaries and movies.

Assign a movie or TV episode from the Swank Links to an external site. and Kanopy Links to an external site. libraries. Sign in with your Chapman credentials. And with Swank, each professor can request up to five titles a year. If the title you’re looking for isn’t there, request it!  Once you have confirmed the video you want is in Swank or Kanopy,  you can embed the video in Canvas.  Embed or link to a movie from Kanopy | Embed or link to a movie from Swank

 

Create Video Clips and Share Via YuJa

  1. Create Your Own Video Clips

You can create your own clips from your own DVDs and video files. From there, you edit using iMovie, QuickTime, Adobe Premiere, etc. Here are some Dodge faculty and staff favorites:

  1. Share Your Clips in YuJa

YuJa is a robust tool that allows you to:

  • Create videos from your computer
  • Store videos you have created
  • Organize videos in both private and sharable folders
  • Share videos with a link
  • Embed videos inside your Canvas Course

☝️ The first step all instructors should take is to activate your account in YuJa. You can do this by visiting any of your courses in Canvas and clicking on the YuJa Video tab in the course navigation.

☝️☝️ The second step all instructors should take is to visit https://video.chapman.edu and sign in to YuJa via SSO.

About Online Screenings:
Any film or media material made available to screen for a class in YuJa should not be shared, downloaded, or disseminated in any other way. Students should not engage in conduct that could violate copyright protection or unauthorized dissemination.  Use the scheduling feature on YuJa so that files on YuJa remain available only during the week when the film is assigned. Please remove the link to any copyrighted material after you have finished teaching it that week.
