How can I embed a Swank movie in my Canvas course?
A movie can be embedded anywhere in Canvas you see the Rich Content Editor. That means, a movie can be embedded in an Announcement, a Page, an Assignment, a Quiz, a Discussion, or even in a Module. For the purposes of this demonstration, I am embedding a movie on a Page within a Module.
- Decide what course module you want the movie to be in.
- Create a Page or choose an existing Page
- Click Edit to edit the page and open the Rich Content Editor
- In another browser tab, sign in to Swank Links to an external site.. You will need to sign in through Leatherby Libraries with your Chapman credentials
- Follow the prompts to sign in with your Chapman credentials at Swank
- Navigate to the movie you want to share with your students
- Click "Copy LMS Link" to have the link copied to your clipboard
- Navigate back to the browser tab where you have Canvas open
- Click the </> icon to open the HTML editor
- Paste the HTML link into the HTML editor
- Click the </> icon to toggle back to the Canvas Rich Content Editor
- Save or Save & Publish
- When your students click on the movie link they will be prompted to log in to Swank via Leatherby Libraries with their Chapman credentials. Then, the movie will be available to stream.
